Comment #3993: Hi Menaga, My baby gal had just celebrated her 1 year old

Hi Menaga,

My baby gal had just celebrated her 1 year old birthday with about 60 over family members and friends at home, buffet style. I had wanted to make it an affair at a restaurant but my in laws was against the idea as they said that it is too tiring for my baby gal where she needs her beauty nap, milk and beauty sleep plus it would be quite noisy and uncomfortable.

The house was lovely decorated with all shapes of ballons all over the ceilings and walls. Children were given a party pack and ballons. Sweets, lollipops, jelly and marshmallows were among the most popular items for them. A Jelly Cake in the shape of a Winnie The Pooh holding the number 1 and a Hello Kitty Cake was the centre of attention of all guests where the Hello Kitty Cake was lighted with a candle that sparkles out fireworks, lights and a birthday song!

Everyone was treated to a buffet style dinner with some catered food and some homemade food too. There were nasi lemak, fried beehoon, curry chicken, sausages, fishballs, barbecued ducks, fried chicken, muffins and fruits.

My baby gal was visibly seen that she enjoyed her little friend's companion where she was busy running, crawling and laughing around with them (she just learned to walk three weeks ago). She received quite some gifts and angpaus that night, with more than the expenses for that night.

You can either have a private party at home like me or at a hotel/restaurant/fast food outlet where it depends on your budget and preferances.

No matter what, ENJOY YOURSELVES!!!

Hi Boonnee,

I accidentally came across this candle in the cake shop where I placed the order for my baby gal's Hello Kitty Cake Shop at Batu 11, Cheras. It cost around RM10.00 per candle.

Would like to recommend this Jelly Cake that me and my friends made for sale too. It is made of totally 100% of Jelly and Santan where it is one layer Jelly and another layer Santan that comes in a lot of cartoon figures, shapes, chinese characters etc. Something different from the normal cakes which cost about RM70 to RM300/500. Found that childrens simply loves it!!!

Do you have the contcat number? Batu 11 is quite far for me, I hope they have branches in KL center. Anyway, how much is the cake? What do you mean by you & your friends made for sale too? You are selling the cake?

Okie, dokie, I would get the details of the shop for u as I have forgotten the shop name and if I m not mistaken, they do have branches all over Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Which cake are u referring to? The Hello Kitty Fruit Flan Cakes cost about RM150.00 and the Pooh Bear Jelly Cake was made by my friend which cost RM80.00. This friend of mine made this Jelly Cakes by herself through orders of 2 to 3 days earlier. This Jelly Cake needs refrigeration as it is entirely made of Jelly(agar-agar) and coconut milk(santan).

I m not selling the cake but I know how to make the Jelly Cake but lazy as it is very tedious and I have no time at all.

If u r interested, I can email or fax a copy of the shapes, cartoons characters etc. of the said Jelly Cake for your further references.

Hi there! talking from my experience... I was very excited too, to celebrate my son's 1st birthday party 4 years ago... we spent it all out, but we kept it private only to our closest relatives & friends... as that was only his 1st birthday bash, we wanted him to enjoy the day to his familiar faces & place only as a lil tot will easily get tired & bored after a few hours of meeting people... home will be his most comfortable place. Wherever it will be, have fun...

My baby is turning one in Dec I'm very interested in all the comments that all mums have written.
I'm not sure what's best, having the birthday at home (which requires lots and lots of planning and organizing) or having it at the restaurant?
I heard from frens that it should be very short party, like 2-3 hours as baby will grow tired after that.

I will be celebrating my birthday/graduation this May and would like to ask suggestions for a venue where food is affordable and some band/dancing in Omaha, NE. I am planning to invite 15-20 people, majority are past 30 year old and a couple of kids.
