Malaysiamums
Malaysiamums holds regular photo contests for various categories of photographs (eg. babies, toddlers) for its members. Membership is free. Hence, it's also completely free of charge to join our contests. No payment or fee of any kind is required.
How are winners determined?
Our contests are NOT lucky draws. You need to take a good picture, compose it nicely, catch a cute pose of your kid, etc...anything that will melt the hearts of our judges. And our judges are none other than all Malaysiamom members! Winners are determined by the VOTES of our members, and other judging criteria such as quality of photo composition.
Any registered member can vote for your picture. A member can vote for as many pictures as she wishes. However, that member can only vote for a particular picture once. If you try to vote again, our system will prompt you, telling you that you cannot vote twice for the same picture. (Note: Creating fictitious emails/membership accounts will not help - we will disregard those votes and may disqualify the entry.)
When a member votes, she will also select a vote SCORE that she thinks the picture deserves. She might also leave some comments & praises. Winning photos are determined by the NUMBER OF VOTES* that a photo receives, and NOT the vote score. Our automatic voting system will keep count and you can check at any time, how many votes your photo has earned. On the last day of each month, the photograph in each category (Baby category & Toddler category) with the highest NUMBER of votes will be the winner.
Do join in the fun by submitted your pictures (yes, you may submit as many as you wish), AND voting for other members' pictures that you feel deserve the credit!
*Note: Our judges are constantly monitoring the quality of the entries and reserve the right to promote pictures of greater skill/quality/better composition, even if they have less votes.
This is a photo contest. To win, you need to submit a nice, skillfully taken photo, and win the hearts of our "moms". They will then give you their vote! You need as many votes as possible!
Your friends can also vote for you - so do tell all of them to support you!
Remember to give your friends the URL (web address) of the page where your kid's photograph can be found.
The best way to do this?
1. After you've uploaded your kid's photo, use the "Email to Friend" link found below the photo.
2. Once you've emailed your photo page to your friends, they can see your photo but will not be able to vote unless they register first (to ensure 1 vote per person).
3. They must then return to the photo page and click on the VOTE button below the photo.
IMPORTANT:

For audit purposes, all winners must submit:
- full personal details
- copy of mothers IC
- copy of child's birth certificate
- a clear picture of the mother & child (to be published in the Hall of Fame).
This must be done before you can receive your prizes. If you don't, your prize will be awarded to other contestants.
Our voting system will keep count and you can check at any time, how many votes you have earned. On the closing date of each month, Qualifying votes for each entry will be tallied & audited, and the judges will decide on the winners for each category, based on many factors including quality of photos, and votes earned. Judges decisions are final.

Winning photographs will be featured on our frontpage, and winners will be notified by email. Prizes will be mailed to you by registered post.

We constantly endeavour to keep Malaysiamums a fun and fair competition! All in the spirit of good cheer! To keep the competition exciting, meaningful and fair for everyone, we have refined our photo contest rules.
Fathers are not eligible to win prizes
Effective 10 July 2006, fathers are free to submit entries for our contests, but please know that your entry will not be awarded any of the prizes. Malaysiamums will only award prizes to mothers.
Participating in more than 1 category
You can submit photographs and collect votes in more than 1 category. However, if you win a top-3 spot in both categories, only the picture with the highest number of votes will be counted. The other picture will be disregarded.
Submitting more than 1 picture
You are free to submit as many pictures as you wish. However, if more than 1 picture wins a top 3-spot, only the picture with the highest votes will be counted.
Entering again
No.1 & No.2 winners for all categories of a particular month cannot enter any of these categories again for the next 12 months. No.3 winners may enter again.
No.1 & No. 2 winners may submit photos for NEW categories that we launch from time to time. We will notify all members of new category launches by email. Winners of any of these new categories, will also not be allowed to participate in those categories again for the next 12 months.
Voting Rules - Qualifying votes
Every member is allowed to vote once for a particular picture. You can however vote for any number of pictures that you feel deserve your vote.
To ensure that our contest is always fun and fair for all members, if any contestants are found to be using inappropriate methods to win, we reserve the right to disqualify the entry, revoke the contestant's membership account, forfeit any prizes etc... Malaysiamums is a community of Malaysian mothers, established to help moms encourage each other and have lots of fun participating in discussions, contests and other events. Let's keep it this way!
Judges veto rights**
As this is a photo contest which depends substantially on the skill of the photographer and the quality/composition of the photograph, our judges reserve the right to veto any votes. Gathering the most number of votes will help you convince our judges that your photo deserves to win. However, our judges have the right to award prizes to more deserving pictures, of better quality/skill. Eg. If you submit a simplistic photograph without putting in much effort to compose it, and caption it nicely, even if you have the most number votes, our judges may exercise their discretion to promote a better quality entry above yours. Having said that, the greatest factor in determining winners, is the number of votes that you collect!
What's the best way to win then?
This is a photo contest. The best way to win, is to take a nice, cute picture of your precious little ones. You want the world to see them at their best!
Then, get as MANY genuine, qualifying votes as possible. Once you submit your photo, if you have a nice picture, our other members will vote for you. In addition, you can gather support and visibility for your picture by telling your friends, colleagues, family etc... They'll vote for you if your picture is a nice one!
#Remember, our judges will not hesitate to take the necessary action to keep our contest clean, fair and fun for everyone!#
Additional regulations
Our monthly contest is open to all residents of Malaysia.
Duplicate photos are not allowed.
Malaysiamums reserves the right to remove photographs which we deem unappropriate.
Vouchers are not exchangeable for cash.
Malaysiamums reserves the right to update these rules at any time.

Can I take part in more than 1 category?
You can submit photos for all of the categories. However, photos cannot be duplicates. We allow 1 photo per category.
Can I win more than 1 prize?
No, you will not be awarded more than 1 prize, regardless of how popular or creative your photo is.
If I previously won a prize, can I participate again?
If you've won a prize (any prize) in one of our contests, you cannot participate in any of the categories that were already existing when you joined and won the contest. If new categories are added in future, you can participate in those categories.
Of course, if you didn't win any prizes (not including the Hall of Fame) last month, you are free to participate again this month. Just remember to use different/new pictures! Re-using pictures is not allowed.
Are there any age limits for the different categories
We used to have age limits, but have since relaxed the rules. Now, unless otherwise mentioned on the photo contest page you can submit past photos of your child.
For example, if your kid is 10 years old, you can submit a photo of him when he was less than 1 years old in any "baby" category. You can also submit a photo of him when he was, for example 2 years old in any "Toddler" category, or similarly, a photo of him when he was 6 years old (or even a current photo) in any "Kid" category.
The rule of the thumb is that the photos should be photos of your kid (regardless of his current age), taken when he was:
12 months old or less - for any "Baby" category
3 years old or less - for any "Toddler" category
12 years old or less - for any "Kid" category
Important:

Where a category specifies any restrictions, those restrictions must be followed.
Eg. If we specify that this category is "only for kids currently 12 months and older", only mothers who have kids who are now 12 months and older, may participate.
Eg. If we specify that this category is "only for babies currently 12 months and younger", only mothers who have kids who are now 12 months and younger, may participate.
How does Malaysiamums ensure that these rules are followed
In addition to automated software checks, we require photocopies of the mother's IC and child's birth certificate, before delivery of prizes.

Your friend might have given you the URL (web address) of the page where his/her child's photograph can be found.
How to vote?
1. To vote, you must register first using a VALID email (this is to ensure 1 vote per person).
2. We will email you a password. Use it to login, then go to your friend's photo page and click on the button below the photo.
** Which is my friend's photo page? **
Your friend might have emailed you a link, which you can click on to find the page. Otherwise, browse through the Photo Gallery.
Our automatic voting system will keep count and you can check at any time, how many votes your friend has earned. On the closing date for each month, all votes will be verified by our judges, who will pick the winning photos based on criteria including number of votes (popularity), photo composition skill, conduct of members etc...
Winning photographs will be featured on our frontpage, and winners will be notified by email. Prize vouchers will be mailed to the winners by registered post.

How are votes calculated?

We're always glad to have more people on our team of Facilitators! Our Facilitors are all mothers, some of them experienced moms, and others, kinda new to the "job". What we all have in common is the heart to help each other through the exciting yet sometimes very challenging process of motherhood!
As a Facilitator, you'll have the privilege of helping other moms and visitors understand more about our support group, and just how easy it is to contribute and be part of our online community!
Some examples of what you can do:
1. Start Q&A Forum discussions
2. Answer questions posed by other members and become a respected helper and friend to many Malaysian moms!
3. Share Articles with hundreds of other members, on your most exciting experiences as a mother and seek their views/comments
4. Create and conduct polls
5. Organise fun activities!

"The Voice of Malaysian Moms"
We've given all users this pretty cool feature, which allows you to bookmark any page on Malaysiamums which you think is interesting.
Whenever you're looking at a page which you think is interesting, the best way to "save" the page so that you can easily find it again in the future, is to click on the 
Bookmark This link.
The link is usually found near the bottom of the central/main content on the screen, below the REPLY or VOTE button.
You will be asked for a title for the bookmark. If you don't feel like changing the title, use the pre-entered title (which means, you just have to click "save". You don't need to change the URL details (which will look something like "node/12345").
Viewing your Bookmarks
1. Login to Malaysiamums
2. Go to the "My Account" menu (left side of screen)
3. Click on "my bookmarks"
4. View your bookmarks, and click on any one of them to see the page!
It's so easy!
If you have something to sell, you can advertise it free of charge in either the Classified Ads section or the Marketplace.
What's the difference?
The Classified Ads requires a picture of whatever you are selling. Take a pic using your mobile phone or digital camera and post it - and you'll be sure to get a much better response!
Classified Ads Instructions
1. look for the Browse menu (top-left side of screen)
2. select "Classads Sell"
3. Follow the instructions to post
4. Make sure you choose the correct sub-category for your item
5. Make sure you upload a picture (recommended 400 pixels wide)
If for some reason you really don't have a picture available, then you can use the Marketplace.
If you are a store owner or bulk purchaser
If you are a merchant or bulk purchaser, please remember that although we allow anyone to post ads in our Classified Ads & Marketplace, we reserve the right to delete ads or suspend your account if you flood our site indiscrimately with hundreds of products/advertisements, or if you advertise products that are irrelevant to our moms.
Remember, the Classified Ads & Marketplace are a free service for the benefit of our Malaysian mums, so please always make sure that your ads are selective, useful and informative.
Links to other sites
We don't allow links to other sites in the Classified Ads section. Feel free to contact us if you would like us to place a link to your website in our Useful Links section.
A blog is a cool way of keeping your journal/diary online. You can access it anywhere in the world, anytime of the day.
The best part is that you can share your feelings and thoughts with all your friends, family, children. Imagine how wonderful it will be, when your child grows up and reads how he or she first learned to walk, or when exactly he or she called you "ma ma"!Anyone can create a blog. It's really easy!
Here are the step by step instructions:
1. Login
2. Go to "My Account" (the menu on the left of screen)
3. Click on "Create Content"
4. Select "Personal Blog Entry"
Then, enter your title (eg. Today, my boy called me "ma ma"), and the text. Hit "submit" and you're done!
Hint: A faster way to enter your blog entry is to click on the 
sign.

Plenty! Remember, Malaysiamums.com is a complete online community centered around motherhood and parenting!

To edit your photo or other posting:
1. Login with your username and password
2. Select "My Workspace" in the control panel
3. In the workspace screen, click on the title of your photo or other posting
4. Select the "Edit" tab on the top of the screen
5. Make your changes and then hit "Submit"
You can edit your posting at any time.
Remember, you can submit as many photos, questions, comments, blog entries and other contributions at any time, and as frequently as you wish! If you're a Malaysia Mom, this site was made especially for you!
Note: Forum postings cannot be edited for security purposes
Once you have submitted an Article, Q&A Forum posting, picture, weblink or other type of content*, you can change your content by selecting the "edit" tab that appears near the top right of the screen.
As long as you are logged in, you will see the edit tab on the top of the screen for content which you entered.
*Note: forum entries cannot be edited.

Exciting polls are conducted on Malaysiamums.com from time to time
For example, we may be running a poll called "Which brand of diapers is the most comfortable?"
For more information on polls, go to the Table of Contents below.
Polls are an easy way to know what most people think of a particular issue.
Whilst the views of a small group of say, for example, 10 mothers would be useful, it would be much better to know what 10,000 mothers think!
If you are a Facilitator, you can create a poll at any time.
In the poll box on the right of the screen, select "Other Polls"
You will be shown a list of polls that have been conducted on Malaysiamums.com.
Select any one of these to see their results.
Comments can be found at the bottom of pages which allow comments.
You have the ability to comment on almost anything found on Malaysiamums.com. Please do give us your comments, as it will make our Articles, Forums and other page much more interesting and meaningful for the rest of us Moms!
Eg. you can comment on:

- pictures
- ...and so much more

Easy! As you long as you have not yet commented on a particular forum entry/article/page etc..., you will see the "add new comment" link found near the bottom of the screen, in the InfoBox. To add a comment, just click on that link. Once you're done, hit "submit"! That's all there is to it!
Tip: click on the (quoted) link instead and your comment will contain a "summary" of the contents of the page that you are commenting on.
Once you have created a comment, it will appear in a yellow box, just like this:
You can edit your own comments by using the "edit" link or reply to another person's comments' by selecting the "reply" link.
the InfoBox appears at the bottom of most pages (whether it's a forum page, article etc...), and gives you very useful information such as:
- who created the page
- who last modified the page
- displays an icon that tells you whether the page was created by a Facilitator or other member of Malaysiamums.com
- how many votes this page has received
- the vote score
- the number of times the page has been read
- links to allow you to create comments
